Miele Washer Repair in Los Angeles and Orange County

A Miele washing machine is built around a honeycomb drum and a sealed bearing assembly that is meant to outlast two or three ordinary machines. That design is also why a Miele fault behaves differently from a mass-market washer: instead of failing outright, the machine usually keeps running and tells you what it found. Read the message on the display before anything else, because it narrows the job from the whole machine down to one part of it.

We repair Miele front-load washers and washer-dryers in homes across Los Angeles and Orange County, in your laundry room, without hauling the machine anywhere. Below is what we actually find behind the symptoms people call us about.

What we find behind the symptoms

What you seeWhat is usually behind itWho fixes it
Drum will not spin, laundry comes out soakedAn unbalanced load the machine refuses to spin, a drain that is too slow to empty in time, a worn drive belt, or motor carbon brushes at the end of their lifeRedistribute the load yourself first; the rest is a technician
Water stays in the drum at the end of a cycleA blocked drain filter, a kinked drain hose, a drain hose end mounted higher than 3 ft 3 in above the floor, or a jammed drain pumpThe filter and hose are yours; a jammed pump is a technician
Laundry comes out cold, cycle takes far longer than usualThe Thermostop function did not reach the set temperature in time, which points at the heating element or its sensorTechnician
Machine will not fill, or fills very slowlyA closed faucet, a clogged inlet filter in the hose connector, or a failed inlet valveThe faucet and inlet filter are yours; the valve is a technician
Loud knocking or grinding during spinWorn drum bearings, or a coin or underwire that worked its way behind the drumTechnician, and the sooner the cheaper
Door stays locked after the cycle endsA cycle that ended in a fault leaves the interlock closed, or the interlock itself has failedTechnician
The drain path of a Miele washer and the three places Miele names as causes of a restricted drain

The same message, F11, covers all three: the filter, the kink and the hose height.

What the fault codes mean

CodeWhat Miele says it is
F11 or Water drainage faultThe drain is restricted. Miele lists three causes: the end of the drain hose sits higher than the maximum delivery head of 3 ft 3 in, the hose is kinked, or the drain filter and pump are blocked.
Water inlet faultThe water inlet is blocked or restricted: the faucet is closed, or the plastic inlet filter inside the hose connector is soiled.
F20 or Heating faultThermostop started because the set temperature was not reached within the specified time. Miele asks you to disconnect the machine for at least two minutes and restart the program; if it returns, the heating circuit needs a technician.
F210 or Check filter + nozzleA fault in the suds circulation system. The nozzle at the top of the door sealing ring is blocked with lint, or the drain filter is blocked.
F19A technical fault, described by Miele as a stiff flow meter. This one is not a user repair.

Code meanings are taken from Miele customer support, mieleusa.com, checked in August 2026. Codes vary between model generations, so treat the display message as the starting point rather than the diagnosis.

Miele washer display messages mapped to the circuit each one points at

The message narrows the job before anyone opens the machine.

What you can check yourself

  1. Read the display and write the code down. It is the single most useful thing you can tell us on the phone.
  2. Open the drain filter flap at the bottom front, put a shallow dish underneath and unscrew the filter slowly. Hot water will come out if the machine has just washed at a high temperature.
  3. Look behind the machine: the drain hose must not be kinked, and its end must not sit higher than 3 ft 3 in above the floor.
  4. Check that the faucet is fully open, then unscrew the inlet hose from the faucet and rinse the small plastic filter inside the connector.
  5. Run your finger along the top of the rubber door seal and clear the lint out of the nozzle you find there.
  6. Run a hot maintenance wash with an empty drum. If the smell or the residue was the whole problem, this ends it.

Where to stop

Stop if the drum knocks or grinds on spin, if the machine trips a breaker, if water appears under the machine, or if the same fault code comes back after a restart. Bearings and heating circuits are not a wait-and-see repair: a bearing that is caught early is a bearing job, and a bearing that is ignored takes the drum and the shaft with it.

Questions we get asked

Why does my Miele washer say the drain is restricted when the filter is clean?

Because the filter is only the first of three places Miele points at. The drain hose behind the machine may be kinked, or its end may be sitting higher than the 3 ft 3 in maximum delivery head, which the pump cannot overcome. Both are easy to miss because they are behind the machine, not in front of it.

My Miele washer is 15 years old. Is it still worth repairing?

Usually yes, and that is not a sales line: these machines were designed for about 20 years of domestic use, parts are still available, and the common failures at that age are the drain pump, the heating element and the door interlock. A worn drum bearing is the one repair where age and cost should be weighed together, and we will tell you plainly when a machine has reached that point.

How soon can you come out?

We schedule same-day and next-day visits across Los Angeles and Orange County. Call (800) 860-0974 and we will tell you the first slot we actually have, not the one we would like to have.

Can you repair a Miele washer-dryer, not just a washer?

Yes. Washer-dryers share the wash side with the standard machines and add a condenser drying circuit, which brings its own faults, most often restricted airflow or a blocked condenser.

Do I need to know the model number before I call?

It helps but it is not required. The model and serial plate is behind the door, on the frame, and a photo of it saves us a trip to fetch the right part.

We manage apartments, and we get calls almost every day from one or more tenants needing an appliance repaired. I lost track of the number of repair companies we tried over the years. Most didn’t show up when they said they would. Some didn’t show up at all. Some couldn’t or wouldn’t honestly tell us what was wrong with an appliance. And the estimates we got ranged from too lowball to be true...to outrageously high. Then we finally tried C&C Appliance Repair — the day a very demanding tenant’s Miele dishwasher conked out. C&C delivered the kind of customer service we were looking for. It turned out to be an electronic problem. C&C diagnosed and repaired it. They were ultra-professional. And I knew right then I’d found the finest Miele appliance repair Los Angeles County ever offered. Soon enough, I discovered they also offer the finest refrigerator repair Los Angeles County apartment owners like me desperately need. You can count on C&C to deliver the superior washer and dryer repair Los Angeles business owners, and homeowners, need. Whatever your service need, you can count on C&C for the best appliance repair Los Angeles County relies on day in and day out. C&C is far and away the best. I’ve referred them to family and friends. No one — not a single one — has ever been disappointed with the quality and value of C&C’s work. Throughout all of our apartments, we have just about every major brand of appliance. And C&C knows how to repair them all. The repair techs get factory training so they’re up to speed on all the latest technology. They’ve got the right parts, the right tools, the right know-how. I’m just sorry I wasted all that time and money trying other companies before we found C&C.
