Fisher & Paykel Repair in Los Angeles and Orange County
Fisher & Paykel is a New Zealand brand, and in Los Angeles it usually turns up in two places: the DishDrawer, which is a dishwasher built as one or two sliding drawers, and the laundry. We repair both in the home, along with their refrigeration, across Los Angeles and Orange County.
The DishDrawer is the one worth knowing about before you call anyone. It does not show a code on a screen - it beeps and flashes, and which lights flash tells you which kind of fault it is. Half the calls we get on these are faults the owner can clear in ten minutes once they know how to read them.
Reading a DishDrawer fault
When something goes wrong the drawer beeps continuously and the panel lights up. Fisher & Paykel splits the faults into two families, and you tell them apart by what is flashing: if the wash modifier lights and the lock light are flashing together, it is an F fault; if only the wash modifier lights are flashing, it is an A fault. In both cases one or more wash program lights stay lit, and that combination is the code.
On a double model each drawer is its own machine. A fault in one does not stop the other, and the two can be showing different faults at the same time.
F faults are the reset family: press to stop the beeping, press again to switch the drawer off, wait a few seconds, switch it back on. If the flashing is gone, the fault is cleared. A faults name something specific:

| A6 | The spray arm has come loose or off its mounting, or the water pressure is too low, or low pressure plus too much foam. Open the drawer, check the arm sits firmly and spins freely. |
| A7 | Too much foam in the drawer. The machine runs an auto recovery program on its own; let it finish, then check the detergent. Foam still there at the end of the program means a call. |
| A09 | The sanitize cycle did not reach the temperature it needed, usually because the water was turned off or the program was interrupted. |

Fisher & Paykel's advice if the code will not clear is to write it down and call. That is good advice: on a DishDrawer the code narrows the job to one part, and we would rather bring it than diagnose it twice.
What we see most on these in Los Angeles is the A3 drain fault, and the cause is usually not the machine. A garbage disposer that has never had its knockout plug removed, a drain hose looped flat behind the cabinet, or a waste pipe that is silting up will all produce it.
Fisher & Paykel washers and dryers
The laundry pairs are simple machines with unusually good access, and the faults are the ordinary ones: a washer that will not drain, a machine that walks across the floor on spin, a dryer that runs but does not heat.
Two checks before you call. On a washer that will not drain, look at the pump filter and the standpipe: a sock through the outer drum is a real thing and it is not always the pump. On a dryer with no heat, check the vent run to the outside; a blocked vent trips the thermal cut-out and no new part will fix a duct full of lint.
We do not publish a code table for these because Fisher & Paykel's own current support page for the laundry codes does not load anything we could quote. If your machine is showing a code, tell it to us on the phone and we will look it up against the manual for your model rather than guess.
Fisher & Paykel refrigeration
Their refrigerators share engineering with DCS, and the calls are the familiar ones: a compartment that will not hold temperature, an ice maker that has stopped, frost building where it should not, water under the cabinet.
The free checks are the same as on any built-in: the door seal along its whole length, and whether food is pushed up against the vents inside. After that it is the evaporator fan, the defrost circuit or a sensor, and all three need the panel off.

My DishDrawer is beeping and flashing. What is it telling me?
Look at which lights flash. Wash modifier lights plus the lock light means an F fault, and those usually clear by switching the drawer off and on. Only the wash modifier lights means an A fault, which names something specific - water supply, drain, spray arm, foam or the sanitize cycle.
What is the A3 fault on a DishDrawer?
The drawer cannot drain. Check the drain hose and its connection to the waste pipe for a blockage or a kink, then clear the fault. If the kitchen was recently installed, check the disposer's knockout plug was removed.
One drawer works and the other does not. Is that normal?
Yes. On a double DishDrawer each drawer is independent; a fault in one leaves the other usable.
