DCS Appliance Repair in Los Angeles and Orange County

DCS was born in Southern California as Dynamic Cooking Systems, building commercial ranges for restaurants before putting the same burners in home kitchens, and it now belongs to Fisher & Paykel. That history is why a DCS is repaired the way commercial equipment is: heavy parts, open burners, and almost nothing hidden behind software.

We work on DCS rangetops, cooktops, professional ranges, wall ovens and refrigeration in the home, across Los Angeles and Orange County, usually the same or the next day.

One thing to know before you start searching: DCS does not publish numbered fault codes. There is no list of E codes for a DCS range, because the machines do not produce them. What they have instead is one alert and a set of symptoms, and both are below.

The flashing orange knob

This is the one alert a DCS professional range gives you. If the OVEN MODE knob or the TEMPERATURE knob is flashing orange, DCS calls it an electronics fault, and their instruction is short: disconnect the oven from the power supply, reconnect it, and if the flashing continues, call for service.

In practice that means switching the range off at the breaker rather than at the knob, waiting half a minute, and putting it back. On a dual fuel model that resets the oven control board, which is the part that throws this alert. A one-off spike, a brownout or a surge from an air conditioner starting will do it, and after the reset the range is fine.

CodeWhat the maker says it means
OVEN MODE knob flashing orangeElectronics fault. Cut power to the range, restore it, and see whether the alert clears.
TEMPERATURE knob flashing orangeSame fault, reported by the other knob. Same reset, and the same answer if it comes back: it is the control, and it needs replacing.

Alert behaviour as published by DCS in the user guide for the Professional range RGV2/RDV2 models, checked 6 September 2026.

An alert that returns straight after a reset is not worth chasing with more resets. On these ranges it is the oven control, occasionally the wiring to it, and either way the range has to come apart at the front.

DCS cooktops and rangetops

The open burners are what people buy a DCS for and what we are called to most. A burner that clicks without lighting, lights and then goes out, or burns yellow and lazy is almost always one of four things: a cap that is not sitting square after cleaning, ports clogged with what boiled over last week, an igniter that is wet, or a flame sensor that has carbonised.

The first two you can settle at the counter. Lift the cap off, dry everything, look straight down at the ring of ports and clear them with a pin rather than a drill bit, then put the cap back and feel it drop into place rather than perch. Half the burner calls we get on DCS end there.

What does not end there: a burner that only fails on the low setting, a griddle plate that will not hold temperature, or a range that smells of gas. The first two are the valve or the control, the third is a stop everything and shut off the gas.

On the electric and induction tops, a zone that dies under load and comes back when things cool down is the cooling fan or the board it protects, and that is not a kitchen job.

DCS ranges and wall ovens

DCS's own troubleshooting list starts where ours does. An oven that is completely dead: check the breaker before anything else, and on a gas oven check that the house gas is actually on, because a shut-off after work in the street explains more calls than any part does. An oven light that is out with the oven working is a loose or blown bulb and nothing more.

Past that, the usual DCS faults are the ones any heavy range gets after fifteen or twenty years of use: an oven that runs well off its setpoint, a bake or broil element that has failed, an igniter that has weakened until the gas valve will not open, a door hinge that has given and left the oven leaking heat past the seal.

The good news on this brand is that the parts are built like commercial parts and generally still available. The bad news is that the same weight means a burner or an oven cavity job takes longer than it would on a domestic range, and anyone quoting you a fifteen minute visit has not looked at one.

DCS refrigeration

The refrigerators and the outdoor refrigeration share their engineering with Fisher & Paykel, and the calls follow the same pattern as any built-in: a compartment that will not hold temperature, an ice maker that has stopped, frost where it should not be, water under the cabinet.

Before booking anyone, do the two checks that cost nothing: look at the door seal along its whole length for a flat spot or a split, and make sure the vents inside are not blocked by food pushed up against them. A built-in that is packed solid cannot move air, and a fridge that cannot move air reads warm no matter what the compressor is doing.

Questions we get asked

What does a flashing orange knob on my DCS range mean?

DCS calls it an electronics fault. Their step is to cut the power to the range and restore it; if the knob is still flashing after that, the oven control needs attention.

Where do I find the DCS error code list?

There isn't one. DCS does not publish numbered codes for its ranges, and the guides use symptoms instead. If a site is showing you a table of DCS error codes, it was not written from DCS's own material.

My DCS burner clicks but will not light. What can I check?

Take the burner cap off, dry it, clear the ports with a pin and seat the cap square. That fixes a good share of these. If it still will not light, or lights and dies, it is the igniter or the flame sensor and we can bring both.

Are you a DCS authorised service company?

No, we are independent and we say so. If your appliance is still in warranty, use DCS's own service line so the work stays covered. Out of warranty, we repair DCS in the home.

Do you cover Orange County as well as Los Angeles?

Yes, both. Rangetops, cooktops, ranges, ovens and built-in refrigeration are all serviced in place.

How fast can you come out?

Same or next day in most cases. Tell us the model number from the plate behind the kick panel or inside the door, and we can check the part before the visit.

Customer reviews

We manage apartments, and we get calls almost every day from one or more tenants needing an appliance repaired. I lost track of the number of repair companies we tried over the years. Most didn’t show up when they said they would. Some didn’t show up at all. Some couldn’t or wouldn’t honestly tell us what was wrong with an appliance. And the estimates we got ranged from too lowball to be true...to outrageously high. Then we finally tried C&C Appliance Repair — the day a very demanding tenant’s Miele dishwasher conked out. C&C delivered the kind of customer service we were looking for. It turned out to be an electronic problem. C&C diagnosed and repaired it. They were ultra-professional. And I knew right then I’d found the finest Miele appliance repair Los Angeles County ever offered. Soon enough, I discovered they also offer the finest refrigerator repair Los Angeles County apartment owners like me desperately need. You can count on C&C to deliver the superior washer and dryer repair Los Angeles business owners, and homeowners, need. Whatever your service need, you can count on C&C for the best appliance repair Los Angeles County relies on day in and day out. C&C is far and away the best. I’ve referred them to family and friends. No one — not a single one — has ever been disappointed with the quality and value of C&C’s work. Throughout all of our apartments, we have just about every major brand of appliance. And C&C knows how to repair them all. The repair techs get factory training so they’re up to speed on all the latest technology. They’ve got the right parts, the right tools, the right know-how. I’m just sorry I wasted all that time and money trying other companies before we found C&C.
